Wilma Lee Gothard

Herrin- Wilma Lee Gothard, 79, of Herrin, passed away at 2:50 AM, Friday, April 10, 2009 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Wilma was born on October 2, 1929 in Herrin to Carl & Dessie (Smith) Cannon. She married Paul E. Gothard in Pocahontas, Arkansas on September 16, 1946. Together they shared more than 57 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on May 9, 2003. Wilma worked at the Young & Modern Shop on Park Avenue in Herrin until her retirement. She was a former member of the Junior Womens Club and a member of the UFCW. She was a lifelong member of Herrin First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, spending time with her family and tending to her house. Survivors include- Only child- Brenda K. Finke & husband Dan of Herrin Grandson- Ryan Finke & wife Tammy of Sesser Four Step Grandchildren One Step Great Great Grandson Sister in law- Rosemary Redden of Marion Niece- Jamie Powell Nephews- Don & Terry She was preceded in death by her parents & husband. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Ed Hoke will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service, Tuesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the Herrin First United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
