Woodrow Wade

Johnston City Woodrow Wade, 89, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:13 A.M. at Rehab and Care Center in Murphysboro. Woodrow was born in Johnston City on February 23, 1920, the son of Walter George and Nellie (Shrum) Wade. He married Dorothy Doerr in Marion. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2007. Woodrow was a member of the American Legion Post #147. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1941-1943. Survivors include one daughter- Brenda Wade of West Frankfort, IL Two sons- Walter D. and Doris Wade of Marion, IL Bruce and Judy Wade of Chicago, IL Four Step-Children- Jeannie and David Shadowens of Johnston City, IL Ruth Hogue of California Clifford Hogue of Marion, IL Jimmy Hogue of California Eighteen Grandchildren Thirty-Six Great Grandchildren Brother- Christopher Wade of Colorado Four Sisters- Gloria Howell of Johnston City, IL JoAnn Smolinsky of Chicago, IL Wanda Fuchs of Port Charlotte, FL Katherine Gilmore of Evansville, Ind Special Niece- Virginia and Danny Pate of Evansville, Ind Woodrow was preceded in death by his parents, his wife-Dorothy, and four children- Sheila, Dale, Wilma, and Richard Wade. Funeral services will be Monday, March 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Jared Morse officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery with military rites presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
