Woodrow “Woody” Paul Almon, 76, of Marion, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 7 am at his home in Marion.
Woody was born June 4, 1942 in Chicago the son of Paul Woodrow and Justine Marie (Laputo) Almon. He married Margaret Nuber on March 2, 1968 in Downer’s Grove and this year they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
He was a US Army veteran, drafted in 1962 during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Greenland. He was the Past Commander of the Marion American Legion Post #147, an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing. Woody worked in newspaper sales, retiring from Reppert Publications.

Wife – Margaret Almon of Marion
Mother – Justine Almon of Marion
Daughter – Carrie Watson (Gene) of Lake of Egypt
Daughter – Judy Claybrook (Patrick) of Hendersonville, Tennessee
Two grandchildren – Mackinley and Lane Claybrook of Hendersonville, Tennessee
Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews
Preceded by his Father and Brother – Gerald Almon
In accordance with his wishes Woody will be cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
