Herrin- ZELIA PAULINE ZEE KOSCO, age 81, of Herrin, passed away at 2:45pm on Friday, April 1, 2011 at her home in Herrin.
Zelia was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on August 2, 1929 the daughter of Noah and Jeanette (Petrie) Lenne. She married John J. Kosco at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Terre Haute, Indiana. He survives in Herrin.
Mrs. Kosco was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where she proudly sat on the first pew. She retired in 2008 from the Herrin Unit 4 School District, where she served as a cafeteria and playground aide for more than thirty years. Zelia was a member of the Herrin High School Booster Club and the Daughters of Isabella. She was very active in different fundraisers and worked many elections. She had a strong faith and was a great support for her family, scheduling herself around her children and grandchildren. Zee enjoyed croquet and was an avid St Louis Cardinal fan.

Mary Rose Kosco Greer, Emily Kosco Rabalais, Jeffrey Kosco, Sarah Kosco,
Rebekah Kosco, Zackary Kosco
Eight Great Grandchildren- Tyler Kosco-Walsh, Austin Starkweather, Alyx Starkweather, Blake Starkweather,
Shane Starkweather, Kaitlyn Kosco, Steven Kosco, Gabriel Kosco, and two great grandbabies on the way.
A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. A visitation will also be held from 9-10am on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.
