Marion Zula Carolyn McRoy, 92, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 7:45 P.M. at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion.
Mrs. McRoy was born March 12, 1913 to John and Mary Jane (Webb) Boner in Johnson County. She married Claude R. McRoy on January 30, 1935 in Benton and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1970. Her parents, a brother, Louie Boner, a sister, Ethel Ward, several nieces, and a nephew, Norman Bluegill Ward, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. McRoy was a graduate of Marion High School. She became a licensed cosmetologist and successfully operated her own beauty shop for more than 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Marion, IL and was very active in the adult choir, the senior choir, her Sunday School class, and several church outreach activities for seniors. She was generous with her time and talents in helping others.
Mrs. McRoy was a lifetime member of LeRoy A Chapter, Order of Eastern Star for more than 59 years, past president of the Marion Literacy Club, member of Marion Womens club, member of the Marion Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and involved in many other civic and community service organizations until her health declined.
Mrs. McRoy enjoyed her home and working in her yard. She loved going to rummage sales and cooking big family meals. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 22, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Joey Brent officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes.
For those who prefer memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois or First Baptist Church of Marion Building Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
